The legendary Argentine superstar Lionel Messi is reportedly in talks to sign with Inter Miami, an MLS team, according to reports from the BBC and The Athletic.

Since Messi announced his departure from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), there has been much speculation surrounding his next career move. After his farewell match for PSG on Sunday, fans and analysts were left wondering where he might play next.

According to the BBC report by sportswriter Guillem Balague, Messi has decided to turn down a contract offer from the Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal. Messi is rumored to have business connections in Saudi Arabia, sparking rumors of a prospective relocation there.

MLS, Inter Miami, Messi's agent, and David Beckham, a member of Inter Miami's ownership group, were all contacted by CNN for comments or confirmation. At the time this article was published, no reaction had been obtained.

Messi had mental distress upon his departure from Barcelona in 2021, which was tainted by financial mismanagement made worse by the Covid-19 outbreak. The team say farewell to Messi, who had spent 17 very successful years with Barcelona, evolving from a schoolboy to a football icon, since they were unable to renew their contract with their finest player.

Messi won two Ligue 1 championships during his two seasons with PSG, but he was unable to lead the team to its first-ever Champions League triumph. His time at PSG came to an unfortunate conclusion when the club suspended him for an unapproved travel to Saudi Arabia, an incident for which he subsequently expressed regret.

Despite all the rumors surrounding his future, Messi's father and agent, Jorge Messi, recently said that his son would want to go back to Barcelona, the team where he previously played and had great success.
